I play drums since I was eight years old, thanks to my uncle Jos and aunt Tonny. Both of them were playing drums at home as well as in a show-band! They encouraged me to start practicing RRLLRRLL patterns, while I was staying at their place for a short holiday. They gave me my first pair of sticks and when I got serious, they gave me their red Sonor vintage-drumset as well!

At the age of 12 I started a band with my friend Edgar Janssen, who played the guitar in my first band. A few years later I joined the band Giant Steps in Venray. We played a lot of instrumental stuf, which I would define as improvised jazz/rock. Now for the last 15 years the city of Nijmegen is my musical home. I played with guitarist Jan Jonker in several funk-based bands before BJB.
Besides BJB I play in a pop/rock band called Storm, and together with Ben Rodenburg I work on musical productions for films and documentaries in our own studio. As the years come, my interest in the different music styles is getting broader and broader. Growing up I liked jazz/rock, funk and soul, but nowadays every style inspires me to use my drums as an instrument, with uncountable possibilities, but always looking for the essence. I still play Sonor drums (again) and Zildjian cymbals. The search of the ideal pair of sticks will probably take a life-time.... Regards, Perry
